Brian and Becky Schmidt founded Shelby Lumber Company as a full-service lumberyard, hardware store, and general contracting business in 1982. Their son Jason and his family joined the business in 2009. Together, the team added Design Build, a custom design center and showroom located in Columbus, to complement the full-service lumberyard located in Shelby.

Although we tend to get the most recognition for our custom homes, we spend a great deal of our time completing custom remodels and renovations for residential, commercial, farm and recreation buildings as well as replacing roofs, decks, siding, doors and windows. We pride ourselves in providing full-service start to finish care, each customer is important to us no matter the size of the project.

We are an accredited Milwaukee Tool distributer and we are proud to state we have seen great growth in this area over the last couple of years. We have many of the tools readily available in stock at our store. What we don’t have, we can order quickly. We offer full service pickup and delivery options to meet the needs of our busy customers.

We are a family – most of our employees have been with us for over 15 years, some have been with us since the beginning 38 years ago.
